Cast iron’s ability to withstand and maintain very high temperatures makes it a natural cookware choice for searing, frying, roasting, braising, baking, sautéing, and simmering. Its excellent heat diffusion and retention makes cast iron the perfect choice for cooking meats. In addition to the stovetop and oven, it can be used for outdoor cooking on a grill or campfire. Wood and metal utensils can be used with cast iron cookware. Your rust-resistant, preseasoned cast iron can go in the dishwasher, but hand washing with warm water and mild soap is recommended. Make sure to dry the cast iron with a towel after washing. Apply a thin coat of cooking oil of your choice to the entire pan, handle included, immediately after cleaning, as seasoning works best with a warm pan. Towel off any excess oil.
